Pride Takes Flight with U.S. Airlines

This month, Pride takes flight on U.S. airlines, which are joining Pride Month celebrations throughout June.

Airlines for America’s members share their support for diversity, equality and inclusion and welcome Pride Month as an opportunity each year to highlight our engagement in the community.

Here are several examples of recent events and initiatives our members have highlighted this year to celebrate Pride.

Alaska Airlines

This Pride Month, Alaska Airlines is honoring Horizon Flight Attendant Elissa, who raised the inclusive Pride flag at Alaska Airlines headquarters before representing the carrier as honorary grand marshal in the Seattle Pride Parade this month.

Elissa marched alongside a contingent of frontline workers at this year’s parade.

American Airlines

American Airlines posted a colorful video to celebrate love and diversity this year for Pride Month. American Airlines is committed to creating a safe and equitable environment for LGBTQ+ team members and customers

Atlas Air

Atlas Air has pride in carrying the world, and this year encourages future employees to explore career openings with the inclusive cargo carrier.

Delta Air Lines

At the start of June, Delta Air Lines raised the inclusive Pride flag across stations to mark Pride Month and show the carrier’s longstanding commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.

Delta has also partnered with artist, actor and mother Samira Wiley to curate a collection of Pride Month media, which the carrier is featuring throughout the month of June.

FedEx

FedEx is proud to work with and support LGBTQIA+ organizations and work toward the advancement of the community.

This Pride Month, FedEx is highlighting its support for these organizations and causes, including The Matthew Shepard Foundation, The Trevor Project, the Point Foundation, AIDS/LifeCycle and OUTMemphis.

Hawaiian Airlines

As part of Pride Month and in anticipation of the Honolulu Pride Parade and Festival in October, Hawaiian Airlines is partnering with native-born dancer Mark Kanemura to kick off its Rainbow Runway Challenge sweepstakes on TikTok.

Users can enter for a chance to ride with Kanemura on the Hawaiian Airlines Pride float by following Hawaiian Airlines, sharing their runway walk and using the context hashtag on TikTok.

JetBlue

JetBlue is proud to celebrate LGBTQ+ crewmembers, customers and communities throughout Pride month, highlighting crewmember resource group JetPride, which offers professional development opportunities for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies.

Southwest

Southwest Airlines is celebrating Pride Month with a series of videos highlighting the stories of LGBTQ+ employees.

The first video includes the stories of workers and the support and encouragement they observe in the workplace.

United Airlines

United’s business resource group for LGBTQ+ employees, Equal, will participate in this year’s London Pride march in July.

“We are all proud to be supporting Pride in London this year and I know that all of our employees taking part will have an exciting day as together, we fly our United flag with pride,” said Ziv Russell, United’s regional chair of Equal.

UPS

This year, UPS is highlighting its support for the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce to provide direct financial support to 13 LGBTQ+-owned businesses in the U.S., U.K. and Germany.

“Pride Month serves as a meaningful time to recognize our LGBTQ+ UPSers around the world, who are an important part of our global network,” said Laura Lane, UPS chief corporate affairs officer and executive sponsor of the Pride Alliance Business Resource Group.

Air Canada

On social media, Air Canada celebrates Pride Month alongside LGBTQ2+ employees, customers, families and friends, and continues to champion a diverse, open and inclusive culture, at work and around the world.
