A4A Applauds TSA for Screening a Record Number of Travelers

Airlines for America (A4A) applauds the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for screening a record 3,013,413 travelers on July 7, 2024.

This comes amid the busy summer travel season, in which A4A expects U.S. airlines to transport more than 271 million passengers worldwide.

“We greatly appreciate the leadership of Administrator David Pekoske and TSA’s 40,000 dedicated men and women who work to keep our skies and airports safe and secure,” A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio said. “U.S. airlines are excited to fly a record number of travelers to destinations around the world this summer, and our critical partnership with TSA makes that possible.”

The high passenger volumes come as the REAL ID deadline approaches. On May 7, 2025, all travelers aged 18 and older must be REAL ID compliant, or present a TSA acceptable form of identification, to fly within the U.S.

Passengers who do not have a REAL ID compliant driver’s license by that date, or another acceptable form of ID, will not be allowed to pass through TSA checkpoints – even on domestic flights.
