U.S. Airlines are Flying with Pride

U.S. airlines celebrated Pride Month during the month of June, highlighting contributions of LGBTQIA+ employees and engaging in Pride celebrations.

Here are some events and initiatives from our member carriers:

Alaska Airlines

To commemorate Pride Month, Alaska Airlines flew its Pride-inspired livery as it transported passengers to popular destinations.

Later this year, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines will be Pride 365 sponsors of Honolulu Pride in Waikiki.

American Airlines

American offered passengers the opportunity to connect to destinations celebrating the culture and history of the LGBTQAI+ community.

American created a special landing page for those interested in booking travel to popular Pride destinations in the U.S. and abroad.

Atlas Air

Atlas Air highlighted their long-standing partnership with the National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA) and support NGPA’s mission to advocate for equal treatment, build community and create career pathways for LGBTQ+ aviators.

Earlier this year, Atlas team members joined NGPA’s Winter Warm-Up in Palm Springs, connecting with talented pilots and aviation professionals from across the country.

Delta Air Lines

Delta sponsored World Pride festivities in Washington, D.C. and will again sponsor the Atlanta Pride celebration this fall. In 2024, Delta sponsored or participated in 25 Pride events, including Atlanta Pride in October.

FedEx

FedEx has been a longtime supporter of LGBTQIA+ efforts, contributing over $2 million to related causes, including the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

On Facebook, FedEx underscored their commitment to inclusion and equality for Pride Month.

FedEx was also a proud sponsor of the Mid-South Pride Weekend in Memphis, one of the largest celebrations in the south.

JetBlue Airways

The JetPride Crewmember Resource Group (CRG) mobilized hundreds of crewmembers to march in Pride parades across the country, including the Queens Pride Parade and NYC Pride March in New York City; the Wilton Manors Stonewall Parade in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a first-time appearance in the San Juan Pride Parade. JetBlue will also march in parades planned for Orlando and Provincetown later this year.

In remembrance of the June 12, 2016, Pulse Nightclub shooting, JetBlue’s Orlando Support Center and JetBlue University hosted community events to honor and memorialize the victims, including a 4.9K run/walk to honor the 49 lives lost in the tragedy.

Also, JetBlue introduced a Pride Month landing page with details on popular Pride destinations like New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale.

Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines showcased a curated selection of movies and shows directed, produced or written by LGBTQIA+ women.

Pride Month is among the culture, heritage and pride months that Southwest celebrate through the year. Additionally, the carrier continues to partner with the following community organizations:

  • National LGBT Chamber of Commerce
  • Equality California Institute
  • ONE Community Foundation
  • The Montrose Center
  • Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada Inc.
  • North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce

United Airlines

United Airlines’ LGBTQ+ Business Resource Group, EQUAL, represented the carrier in parades across 10 cities, including West Hollywood, Calif., and Washington D.C.

United is proud to support LGBTQ+ employees with volunteer events and community-building initiatives throughout the year.

Air Canada

Air Canada showed its commitment to inclusivity in the air and on the ground by posting a video commemorating their first all-2SLGBTQIA+ flight crew.

The flight was staffed from pilots and cabin crew to engineers and ground staff, all who identify across the spectrum — Two-Spirit (2S), Lesbian (L), Gay (G), Bisexual (B), Transgender (T), Queer or Questioning (Q), Intersex (I), Asexual (A).

Air Canada hailed the flight as a “heartfelt celebration reflecting our unwavering commitment to inclusivity and equality, in the air and on the ground.”
