A4A Supports DHS’ Blue Lightning Initiative to Prevent Human Trafficking

January marks National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and Airlines for America (A4A) is once again supporting the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Blue Lightning Initiative (BLI).

The BLI works to train airline and airport workers to identify potential traffickers and human trafficking victims; the program also educates workers how to report suspicious behavior to law enforcement.

More than 350,000 personnel in the aviation industry have been trained through the BLI to date, according to DHS. A4A member airlines have long been participants of a number of anti-human trafficking initiatives.

Additionally, A4A wants to remind the traveling public how they can work to prevent this horrible crime. As part of its larger Blue Campaign, DHS will hold trainings for the public that cover how to best recognize and report potential human trafficking cases. To learn more, click here.
