A4A Statement on White House Meeting
October 30, 2025
We greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with Vice President Vance and Secretary Duffy today at the White House to discuss the unnecessary stress the federal government shutdown is having on our nation’s air traffic controllers, TSA officers and CBP officers, as well as passengers and the shipping public. This Administration has proven it understands how important aviation is for travel, commerce and the economy.
We urge Congress to act with urgency to reopen the government. The quickest and simplest way to do that—and to ensure critical employees are paid on time—is by passing a clean CR.
Airlines remain focused on preserving safety and trying to mitigate the operational impacts of this shutdown. We are expecting a record holiday travel season; however, if the shutdown continues much longer, Americans will have to pack their patience and be prepared for more delays, unfortunately.
