A4A Applauds House Passage of FAA Reauthorization

WASHINGTON | July 20, 2023 – Airlines for America (A4A) is proud to support the House version of the 2023 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization and applauds its bipartisan passage on the House floor.

Statement from Nicholas E. Calio, President and CEO of A4A

This legislation seizes the opportunity to improve our National Airspace System (NAS) by providing long-term stability at the FAA and much-needed direction in the absence of Senate-confirmed leadership. First and foremost, the bill ensures that the U.S. remains the global gold standard of aviation safety and works to enhance efficiency by supporting technological advancements and government reforms that will modernize operations.

The bill underscores the need to hire more air traffic controllers to ensure our airspace is adequately staffed. The workforce development provisions not only extend successful existing programs, but also encourage students and veterans to pursue jobs in aviation.

We are pleased provisions to identify the root causes of delays and cancellations are included. More detailed and precise data will help airlines and DOT develop better policies to address operational irregularities and in turn better serve customers.

We especially thank Chairman Sam Graves and Ranking Member Rick Larsen for their steadfast leadership and commitment to a bipartisan work product that includes no new taxes or fees on passengers. They have set the standard in this Congress for what thoughtful, collaborative partnership looks like across party lines.
