A4A and ASPA Partner to Advance Accessibility for Air Travelers

Representatives from members of Airlines for America (A4A) and the Airline Service Providers Association (ASPA) met to discuss opportunities to enhance accessibility throughout the air travel experience for passengers.

During the meeting, the first ever between the two groups, participants exchanged perspective on ways to improve the accessibility across air travel. Discussions focused on several key areas, including airport navigation, handling and transportation of personal wheelchairs, and employee training.

The meeting underscored a shared commitment between airlines and service providers to identify and implement solutions that make air travel more accessible and inclusive. Both groups agreed to further collaboration to continue to improve accessibility for travelers.

U.S. airlines are dedicated to ensuring a safe, inclusive travel experience for all passengers including those with disabilities. A4A and our passenger carriers are continuously engaged with the disability community, the Department of Transportation (DOT) and others to identify and implement solutions that increase accessibility.

Since their 2022 pledge, A4A’s members have improved passenger accessibility throughout the travel experience and continue to support the rights of passengers with disabilities as set forth in the DOT’s Airline Passengers with Disabilities Bill of Rights.
