Airports

The United States possesses the largest, most extensive aviation system in the world, including over 19,000 airports – over 3,300 of which are open to the public. Airlines are tenants at over 500 Commercial Service airports, and together with the passengers and shippers comprise over 98 percent of the revenue stream for those airports

It is important to note that U.S. airports are by-and-large owned and operated by state or local government entities; if you have questions regarding a specific airport you should contact that airport directly.

ATA and its member airlines are actively engaged in many airport-related activities, including the development and maintenance of airport infrastructure and the financing of airport operations.

This section includes a primer on airports and related airport activities.
