ATC System Modernization

The basic design elements of today's U.S. air traffic control (ATC) system have not changed significantly since its inception in the 1950s.  While the system remains incredibly safe, its design promises to present ever-growing concerns as demand for system capacity continues to rise.  ATA remains a strong vocal proponent of modernizing the ATC system.  For more information, see  ATA's 2006 Economic Report, section on ATC System Modernization.
