FAA Air Traffic Control System Command Center -- ATA Desk

The Air Transport Association has staffed a position at the FAA Air Traffic Control System Command Center, commonly known as the Command Center, in Herndon, Virginia, since 1996.  The mission of the Command Center is to balance air traffic demand with system capacity in the National Airspace System (NAS).  ATA staff represents members' daily operational concerns by recommending strategic and tactical solutions to mitigate system constraints. 
 

  • Collaborative Decision Making.  Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) is a joint government/industry initiative aimed at improving air traffic management through increased information exchange among the various parties in the aviation community.  The CDM program is made up of representatives from government, airlines, general aviation, private industry, and academia who are working together to create technological and procedural solutions to traffic flow problems that face the National Airspace System.  ATA supports Collaborative Decision Making by working with industry stakeholders  to increase the safety, service, and efficiency of the NAS.
