ATA Says FAA Summit Reaffirms Industry Safety Commitment

STATEMENT

WASHINGTON, June 15, 2009 – The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today issued the following statement regarding the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) “call to action” summit to address airline safety and pilot training:

“ATA is pleased with today’s meeting of industry stakeholders, which reaffirmed our collective commitment to safety. That commitment includes maintaining high standards of professionalism. We look forward to working with the government in its review of pilot training programs to ensure there are no safety gaps. This summit is important in helping to maintain the U.S. aviation industry’s already exceptional safety record,” said ATA President and CEO James C. May.
