NEWS RELEASE
WASHINGTON, Aug. 13, 2009 – The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today noted that, in announcing its Aug. 15 Secure Flight requirement that airlines request passenger date of birth and gender when making a reservation, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) also has been clear in saying that if that information is not included, passengers will still be able to travel. Specifically, TSA has said, “If a passenger is not prompted to provide this additional information by a particular airline, they should not be concerned as it will not impact their travel.”
The ATA member airlines are working closely with TSA to try to assure a seamless transition to its new Secure Flight program.
ATA airline members and their affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. passenger and cargo traffic. For additional industry information, visit www.airlines.org.
