STATEMENT
WASHINGTON, March 18, 2008 – The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization that represents leading U.S. airlines, today issued the following statement in response to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announcement of a precautionary audit of airline maintenance records:
“This is a prudent move by the FAA that will validate the effectiveness of airline compliance systems. Audits such as this, along with the countless others being performed by the airlines, help create the redundancies that make our aviation system the safest in the world.”
