STATEMENT
WASHINGTON, May 20, 2008 – The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today issued the following statement in response to the University of Michigan survey:
“Airlines continue to work very hard with government and airports to find ways to improve customer service and reduce delays – the root of passenger complaints. Until the government begins the transformation to a modern air traffic control system, we are going to continue to have delays, which result in missed connections, mishandled bags and passenger complaints."
ATA airline members and their affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic. For additional information about the industry, visit www.airlines.org.
