WASHINGTON, March 25, 2008 – The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization representing the leading U.S. airlines, today announced that AirTran Airways will become its newest and 19th airline member, effective April 1, 2008.
“We are pleased to welcome AirTran Airways to the Air Transport Association and our growing family of airline and industry members,” said ATA President and CEO James C. May. “AirTran has distinguished itself as a major presence in the marketplace. We are excited at the prospect of their active participation in our continuing efforts to respond to the extraordinary challenges facing the U.S. airline industry.”

Mr. Fornaro will represent AirTran on the ATA Board of Directors. AirTran Airways is headquartered in Orlando, Fla., and employs more than 9,000 people and serves 58 cities from coast to coast, with more than 700 flights per day and nearly 24 million passengers per year.
ATA airline members and their affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic.
