NEWS RELEASE
WASHINGTON, Nov. 15, 2007 – The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry trade organization representing the leading U.S. airlines, today issued the following statement in response to the White House announcement on actions to reduce air travel delays and improve customer service over the Thanksgiving holiday period:
“We share the administration’s frustrations and applaud the efforts of President Bush, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Defense for the numerous operational steps they are taking to improve air service and reduce delays,” said ATA President and CEO James C. May.
With respect to chronically delayed flights, May added that airlines also share the president’s concerns.
“Airlines remain focused on improving the service that they provide to customers,” said May.
ATA airline members and their affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic. For additional information about the industry, visit www.airlines.org.
