WASHINGTON, June. 26, 2007 – The Air Transport Association (ATA), the trade association for the leading U.S. airlines announced that Nancy N. Young will be rejoining ATA in the newly created position of vice president, environmental affairs, effective July 9, 2007. Also announced, is the promotion of Patricia G. Higginbotham to chief of staff.
Ms. Young will lead the airline industry’s expanding environmental activities. Nancy first joined ATA, covering environmental programs as assistant general counsel in 2000. She became an ATA officer in 2004, serving as associate general counsel, environment and international programs. Young has broad experience in environmental law and litigation, coming from the prominent law firm of Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. as shareholder/partner. Among other things, she has served for several years on key working groups of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s environmental committee and recently as co-chair of Beveridge & Diamond’s climate change practice. Young received her Bachelor of Arts degree from College of William and Mary in 1986 and a juris doctor degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1990.

Ms. Higginbotham will expand her responsibilities with the various ATA disciplines to expedite special projects and programs.

ATA members and their affiliates transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic.
