ATA Statement on the Confirmation of Mary Peters as DOT Secretary

STATEMENT

WASHINGTON, Oct. 2, 2006 – The Air Transport Association (ATA), the industry organization representing leading U.S. airlines, today issued the following statement regarding the confirmation of Mary Peters as Department of Transportation (DOT) secretary:

“I congratulate Mary Peters on her confirmation as secretary of transportation,” said ATA President and CEO James C. May. “The Air Transport Association and its member airlines look forward to working closely with Secretary Peters on the pending reauthorization of the Airport and Airway Trust Fund and other important transportation issues. We welcome the secretary’s leadership in the continued advancement of a safe, efficient and modern national air transportation system.”

ATA airline members transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic.
