NEWS RELEASE
WASHINGTON, Nov. 17, 2006 – The Air Transport Association (ATA), the industry trade organization representing leading U.S. airlines, today announced that Marc Gonzales has been named the association’s vice president of congressional affairs. In his new role, Gonzales will take on additional responsibilities as an advocate for the airlines.
“I am extraordinarily pleased to announce Marc’s promotion to vice president,” said ATA President and CEO James C. May. “Since joining ATA, he has made great contributions in shaping public policy. His vast institutional knowledge of the workings of Congress will prove invaluable in helping foster a healthy competitive industry.”
Gonzales joined ATA in January 2004 as a director, government affairs. He will continue to report to ATA Vice President of Government Affairs Sharon Pinkerton.
Before joining ATA, Gonzales worked on Capitol Hill for nearly 10 years, most recently as the Chief of Staff to U.S. Rep. Gene Green (D-TX) and also served on the staffs of the Texas Office of State-Federal Relations under former Governor Ann W. Richards and several members of the Texas House of Representatives.
Gonzales earned a bachelor of arts degree from Angelo State University in Texas.
ATA airline members transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic.
