STATEMENT
WASHINGTON, Nov. 22, 2005 – The Air Transport Association (ATA), the trade association of the principal U.S. passenger and cargo airlines, issued the following statement today regarding the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Proposed Rule on Modernizing Control of Communicable Disease Regulations:
“There no doubt is a need to update the current regulations to ensure the absolute safety of our passengers and employees. To what extent changes need to be made to existing practices will be done cooperatively with the CDC through this proposed rule making.”
ATA airline members transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic.
