Barimo comes to ATA from Avborne, Inc. – a maintenance, repair and overhaul service provider – where he was vice president since September 2002. During his time there, Barimo was successful in rebuilding the organization’s heavy maintenance operation.

“Basil’s 16 years of aviation safety and maintenance experience, coupled with his focus on quality and enhanced productivity, make him an outstanding addition to the ATA team,” said ATA President and CEO James C. May.

In addition, Jack Evans, manager external affairs at Alaska Airlines, will join the ATA communications department in early January. Evans has been named managing director, communications and external affairs and will serve as an industry spokesperson, reporting to Doug Wills, ATA vice president, communications and external affairs.

Previously, was public relations manager of AAA Washington, the regional affiliate of the the American Automobile Association based in Bellevue, Wash., and a newspaper reporter for the Orange County Register. Evans earned his bachelor of journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.

“We are thrilled that one of the many talented people at our member airlines has agreed to join the ATA team,” said May. “Jack’s unique airline experience and knowledge will immediately enhance the organization.”
