NY-Area Air Traffic Scorecard

ATA is monitoring the performance of the National Airspace System (NAS) with an emphasis on the northeastern United States. Of particular interest is the aggregate performance of Newark (EWR), New York Kennedy (JFK), New York La Guardia (LGA) and Philadelphia (PHL). ATA is monitoring and emphasizing four key operational metrics for that region, versus the remainder of the Operational Evolution Partnership (OEP) 35 airports combined:

  • NAS Operations Delay Rate (%) -- the fraction of operations more than 15 minutes behind schedule, due strictly to issues with the National Airspace System
  • Taxi-Out Delay Rate (%) -- the fraction of flights for which the time between pushing back from the gate and taking off is equal to or greater than 60 minutes
  • On-Time Takeoff Rate (%) -- the fraction of flights departing within 15 minutes of scheduled wheels-up time, calculated by adding unimpeded taxi-out time to scheduled gate-out time
  • Gate Arrival Delay (mins.) -- the average difference (in minutes) between the actual arrival time and the scheduled arrival time, for all arrivals
